VOB file has lost search function

All of a sudden I lost the ability to recompress my VOB files with XMPEG. After I rip them and try to play them (to test it) I noticed that the slide indicator immediately goes to the end before it starts to play the VOB. SO, when I try to encode the file with XMPEG, as soon as I hit "GO" the slider goes to the end and it things its done, but in didn't do anything. Somehow its lost its key sync or timebase or something. Anyone ever have a problem like this? I have all these VOB files taking up space....I really want to recompress them down.
