I just added a sata drive, my first has a windows installation. I have a K8T Master 2 far dual 244 Opteron motherboard, so I need to press F6 at boot up to add my sata drive. Anyways, I couldn't fully use it in windows, it only appeared in my device manager, so I went back and formatted it through windows setup. But when I do that, it immediately installs windows.

Now when I boot up, i get two boot up windows. I just want one.

How do I make my new hardrive just for data storing and get rid of the installed windows? I tried formatting it in windows, but that didn't take our the two boot up window options.

    Thanks,

    sincerely,

I don't know if this will help, but I recently installed sata drive and couldn't find it in my computer, but in device manager also. To fix this I had to right click on my computer go to manage then goto disk management right click on the drive you want to use then goto format after formatting is done right click again and partition it. That fixed my problem.

    Thanks for the reply AkaMrMike,

I waited a while for a reply from someone, and I ended up getting the exact answer the same day from MSI's forum, since the motherboard I'm using is MSI, though the problem is windows related. I can't use that option currently because both drive now have windows installed, and I won't allow me to format nor partition from disk management. So I'm waiting to see if anyone has any suggestions.

Once I finish transfering all of my data from first drive to the second, I plan on deleted the first drive's partition from windows Setup, then hopefully, formatting with be available in disk management. What I am ultimately trying to get rid of, is the dual boot of windows at boot up. That is so annoying!!

    Sincerely,
