    Hi

Just set up a new system for family and myself, it's based on a Gigabyte 965p-ds3 mboard and a e6400 core 2 duo cpu (1066fsb). Have 1gb of ram (ddr2 800mhz 2 x 512mb), 250gb sata2 hd, an ide optical drive as master and a 120gb storage hd on the one and only ide channel. The thing is, it's not fast, infact it seems (or is) a bit slower (generally) than the other system which is based on a p4 3.0 ghz zpu (800fsb). Also it looks like there is really no advantage or even a worse performance than the p4 when multitasking, which is the thing it's supposed to be particularly great at right?

Is there any settings I should be changing to optomize windows for core 2 duo?

The windows install is pretty much exactly the same as with the P4 system (and the usage), but this one is much more streamlined and defragmented well from the start, and the my documents are on a different partition. I've also set the pagefile on it's own partition and of a fixed size which should be helping too.

The P4 had 512mb single channel ddr 400mhz, the core 2 duo has 2x512mb dual channel ddr2 800mhz. It has been defragged (with third party software) from the start.
