Can you take an X Box game and program it to work in a playstation 2 like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

No, the hardware is too different internally, different processors with different instruction sets. Emulation will not be possible either. You need a much faster machine to be able to emulate another's hardware and software and the PS2 and Xbox are both relatively close as far as cpu speed specs.

actually they are not close at cpu speed at all. the xbox is a lot faster than the ps2.

You are correct, the xbox is a lot faster for cpu. Thats why I said relatively close, compared to say requiring a 300 mhz pc to emulate a 16 mhz game boy or the like. I remember the first emulator I ever used. It was a pc emulator that ran on my amiga 2000. I tried playing the game Silent Service, a submarine simulator, and it loaded but had an annoying beep every 15 seconds or so. It wasn't until playing it on a real pc that I realized that the beeps were actully morse code, just that the emulation was running so slow that you couldnt tell it. Even though the Amiga was over 5 times as fast as a pc - 4.77mhz back then vs 25mhz for an Amiga with 68030.
