External Harddrive storage

    I recently bought a 400GB Samsung Harddrive but had no room for it in my PC so I bought an external enclosure for it. When I turn it on windows picks it up and even lists it properly in device manager but I can't put anything on it. There is no icon for it in My Computer or anywhere. How do I set it up?

    Hi I bought an external USB hard drive for Christmas - not the same as yours - and it was working perfectly until I deleted the partition by mistake - if I'm remembering right. Then it showed up on device manager but I couldn't access it. The answer was to format it and it showed up in My Computer next to C:. Or perhaps your h/d just needs formating...

    partition & format the hd so can use it.
