hi hope someone can help when i put a blank dvd-r in my pc it shows as 0 free space and 0 bytes it plays all back up discs cds and original discs i have not changed the type of media i normally use and have tried several discs all with the same result .i have a dell pc and the drive type is HL-DT-ST DVD+ - RW GWA4164B and am using windows xp .i hope i put this thread in right place not sure if its drive prob or something else .thanks to anyone who can help

thanks for your help so far have tried updating firm ware and re installing the drive as you have suggested but dvd drive still the same when inserting a blank dvd the drive reads it as a cd with 0 bytes free space 0 bytes total size but when inserting blank cd it reads correctly
