My mother board recognises that I have 2 dvd drives in the primary and secondary ide. But nothing comes up about my sata hard drive. I have power in and I have tried different cables just in case they were faulty. I have even put in a known working hard drive and have the same problem. Can anyone help? Thanks.

only IDE shows.Nothing SATA at all. Went into the device config on the bios and found something that says

    Onchip sata bootrom - Enabled.

Thats all there is. I notice there is an 8 pin connection on the hard drive. Do any of these have to be covered? Is this what might be the prob?

I have been told I have to change my jumper to 5& 6 because my hard drive is too fast for the mother board I have. My screen comes up different now but is says it cant initiate the drive.Still it does not recognise the drive.
