mandriva video question

Hi all
Just downloaded and installed the mandriva 10-23-2006 release.
I've got an nvidea 7600 agp video card installed, when i installed mandriva i chose nvidea series 7 driver, the test option worked fine but upon reboot the video is garbled huge and obviously incorrect. i am able to ctrl alt f1 log in and work with no graphical interface, but that's not what i want....
i do not have many commands memorized, could someone please explain how to switch video config.
