upgrade

    Guy's have been having an overheating problem for sometime now,computer just shut's itself down,when it like's.I am thinking of changing my motherboard,as this has the fan and heatsink on it, . I would like to go dual core and was leaning toward's intel. What would you recomend.
    existing.
    amd xp 3000 cpu barton
    512 ddr pc 2700-333 ram inmt
    asus a7n8x- mx-se motherboard
    any advice will be appreciated

    try getting a new heatsink first

    recomendations are hard without a price and purpose for the machine.

    if i was to do a new build today for myself i would start with a core 2 duo in a nf650i mobo with some ddr2 pc 6400.

    other than that its back to my first line.

    im sure that a good clean and possibly some new thermal paste would help your over heating problem.

    i must of started as you posted, thats not going to fit a socket a mobo tho :)

    Thank's guy's I am taking all your thought's into consideration,but would still like idea's on a new board, not much of a gamer,but able tocope with most thing's,money not much of a problem. Cheer's again.

    ryan, that is an intel p4 heatsink fan assembly that won't fit on a board for amd.

    Ryan fitted a new heatsink and fan, seem's to have done the trick , touch wood, any idea's for an upgrade out there.
