OK, I'm pretty new to this program but I'm having some problems that I thought might be really obvious to you guys but I can't seem to find the answer for my life.

OK - I'm attempting to shrink the disc of the DVD Frida with DVD Shrink. Anyway the disc composition is such if you open VIDEO_TS.ifo

Menus
1) FBI Menus
2) Main/Title Menu
3) Special Features Menu

4) Sneak Peaks Menu

Main Movie
1) Titles 1-21

Extras
1) Title 22 (Extra Features)
2) Title 23-28

Unrefrenced Material
1) Random Menu

All I really want is the stuff in bold...

Now, when I right click there the Delete Option is grayed out so it's not like you can just remove the stuff you don't want... and under options the most you can do is make it still pictures which still can take up quite a bit of space on the disc. I wouldn't mind just replacing them with blank .VOB files but that messes with the .IFO files and gives DVD shrink an error. IFOedit itself... doesn't let me completely get rid of these either, they just appear under Unreferenced Material which I still can't get rid of. Basically, I'm stuck. Anyone have any clues?

As Jonny suggests, re-author it with DVD Shrink. Click and drag the files you want to the New DVD part of Shrink and burnto disc. Get rid of everything except the movie on Friday (i watched it last night) for best quality!

Yes. The best thing to do if you want only the movie is re-author. But if you want to keep all of the menus, you'll have to work from full disk. You did deselect all of the different language audio, and subpictures, right? Also, if you don't really care about the extra features, make them all level 8 or so compression. Then try to see how little you can compress the movie. If you still have to compress the movie above 40%, then you'd be better off re-authoring. Hope this helped!

Problem is, when I reauthor it just sticks all of the stuff into one folder and it's just pure chaos... does DVD Shrink even know the files are connected at all?

PS - How do you "work from full disk?"

There is nor real working from Full Disk. I just used Re-author to strip the whole thing down to movie only, minus credits and everything non-essential. I hate menus and extras anyway. Who actually watches them?? Huh?

You cant delete post already made.

DVD Shrink 3.0 beta 1 reauthor was not working for me. So I used DVD Shrink 2.3 and it worked just fine. Not sure if I was doing something wrong but 2.3 worked a lot better than 3.0

What was the problem you were getting? It is a slightly different style to it than the previous version, but it actually is a lot better, especially the increments of 1% instead of 5%

You re-author before or after or instead of backup? I followed one of the guides but it didn't say anything about that function. Is there a link to some info?

You re-author straight away - then back up. I'll updte the user guides soon on the websites in my signatures to reflect this.

As a matter of fact I did. But, I also selected two other audio formats. I believe one of them was a 2channel? Thanks for the help!!!

Yeah, i have had experience with similar problems. Try not selecting the DTS as it will default to play this. If you do select DTS, maybe the DVD player you use can change to one of the other sound formats to play. Unless you have a high end system, you wont notice much difference between DTS and AC3 6ch's.

Agree with the one who said DVD Shrink 3.0 is not as good as 2.3!!! I made quite a few copies of my favorite movies with 2.3 and they are just fine, and even at 40% the quality is excellent but with 3.0 at 35% the result was somewhat like fucking DIVX, really bad! Hey guys don't unimprove!

to use re-author in 3.0 u have to reopen the disc in the new window that appears. This is not taking any extra time but still is a silly solution. I really don't get it. Hopefully the final version will be better. Hey guys at DVD Shrink thanks for 2.3. Really brilliant. I hope that in the final version of 3.0 next to the preview of the picture we will have prewiew of the sound too!! It would really be helpfull. Pinnacle's Instant Copy does it!
