I just received my new computer with Windows XP Pro. On my previous computer, I was running Windows Millennium on a Dell system. I have a Sony DRU510A DVD+R and –R capability and a Sony CRX300E CD-RW drive. None of the software that came with the two drives were installed except for the firmware. On my new system, I have Nero 6 Ultra Edition with all updates. Regardless of how hard I try, I am unable to figure out how to format a blank CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, or DVD-RW. On my older system, I was using Adaptec Easy CD Creator (now Roxio). All I had to do was right-click the Icon in the System tray, select format, and the software formatted the CD-R or CD-RW. I could then drag and drop files to it, save files downloaded from the Internet, or what have you. In Windows XP Pro, I cannot figure out how to do this. InCD 4 is supposed to perform this task but I am unable to locate it in the software. I need to format a few CDs to start my Internet downloads. Also, when using my other system, I could right-click on any file in Windows Explorer, select Send To and the file would be sent to the CD-R or CD-RW. I cannot do this with Nero 6 Express and Windows XP Pro. Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Reekman
First uninstall lame Roxio Easy CD Cre(a)mator (DirectCD) and use the latest Ahead InCD packet write software. After installing insert your cdrw in your Sony and format the cdrw= that simple. Be sure that your not having ASPI layer conflicts. Check the Roxio website for ASPI check and ASPI 4.6 layer= install.. Shoey
