i've got a few movies in avi-format, that i can view in window-media player.
according to g-spot all the codecs are installed on my pc.
when i want to encode into mpg with TMP, however, the problem starts: the picture stops after a couple of frames, but the counter continues.
i have also tried to re-write the avi file with virtual-dub, but there the same problem.
to make it even more complicated: after that, sometimes it is not possible anymore to view the file with media-player.
i am new to movies, but so far, it has not been much fun...
maybe somebody can help me out.
    thanks!

Did you set the video to direct stream copy?

When you try to make mpegs do you make back ups of the originals?

I dont know if this will work for you but on another thread, this person who had a similar probelm while trying to view his movies somehow got it to work by watching them through real player. Its a longshot but give it a try.

Ok just to get everything clear, what do you mean by re-writing the avis in vdub? Can you be more specific?
