PSP wont connect to servers. Security settings are fine

When I connect on my PSP it goes past all the security settings and stuff (I did those correctly) but when it starts connecting to the servers it doesnt connect. Do I have to open ports or something?

Do you mean when it starts connecting to the internet after going through network setup or something completly different?

after its connected to the modem and has iquired the ip address then it starts to log on to the servers and fails. eg "could not connect to EA servers".
