well, the movie must be in VCD or SVCD, and you can rarely not fit a movie in one cd-r so you may have to divid it into two cd-r's... and some DVD's can play movies in avi and mpg format

Tmpenc is a good programming for changing avi files into VCD or SVCD

    1. Open up TMPGEnc, fire up the Wizard, select whatever formats you want or your output file (PAL, NTSC, NTSC Film, VCD, SVCD blah blah), and pass the AVI through that
    2. Note that the avg SVCD can hold ~50 minutes of video and thr avg VCD can hold 70(?) minutes of video so you may need to cut your movie. Some ppl have issues cuttign after they have converted to MPG so it might be wise to cut beforehand using something like VirtualDub. If you want to cut within TMPEnc, File --> MPEG Tools --> Merge and Cut
    3. After you have your outputted MPG file, open up whatever burning program you got, select (Super)Video CD and burn away (remember to burn slow)

    :)
