a more stable versions of Nero 7 is 7.5.7.0.
Before udating I would save the serial #, uninstall Nero, then use the cleaning tools : Nero7 Clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html
then do a registry clean up(free registry cleaner, CClean: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/downloadpage.aspx?1) and defrag...... then reboot!

and then install 7.5.7.0 from here
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/

http://ata-atapi.com/ read this....... without your ATAPI your drive is either not hooked up correctly or not being recognized! Either case you come up with this: Write error D: LITE-ON DVDRW LH-20A1H go to DEVICE MANAGER (by right clicking on MY COMPUTER/PROPERTIES/HARDWARE/DEVICE MANAGER) and then hit the - sign for IDE ATA/ATAPI CONTROLERS....see what's there. If there is a yellow sign or a red X there then your drive is not being seen correctly for burning!
