Hello. Would a few of you kind chaps spare a bit of time to give me a few opinions?

I've started to use dvd Shrink 3.2 which I find easy to use, along with Nero 5.51042.

I'm a bit worried about what someone said in another post 'dont burn up to the edge, besause some disc edges are a bit iffy' How much space shall I leave whilst using Shrink? Keep it under 4Gb?

Whilst I've only used it a few times I wonder if other users don't like having to go further up the compression rate to get their movie to fit, When do you start to notice the pixellation. Dare I ask if anyone uses level 10?

And Lastly, I've a few important home movies to back up on dvd. Are TDK or Verbatim worth the extra cost? Hopefully more scratch resistant than the few Datawrite i have.

Thanks very much for your time and imput guys!

Hell

As long as you don't have cheap media it should be alright to burn right to the edge (4.32gb) I use Princo and Verbatim and have never had any problems yet with burning to the edge.

As for DVD Shrink you will start to notice pixellation at level 4. DVD Shrink is fast free and easy to use but if you want better quality try one of the other options I personally use Instantcopy and get outstanding quality every time but it also takes the longest.

here's a site for comparing the different programs

I burn at 4450MB no probs with Ritek and Traxdata. If there is a problem with the edge of the disc it is only likely to be the credits that are affected
