Well, my wife's t629 is less than a week old and the play (movement) between the two moving parts seems excessive. It doesn't short out or lose contact because of the movement but it bothers her for being such a new phone. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is this something we should worry about? She's think of sending it back and requesting a new one.

That's new to me, i haven't had any slider problems as of yet. Granted i am very careful with it. A Moto I730 this phone most definitely is not. That phone was a tank.

We went to the local TMobile store and looked at their t629 demo model and it was tight. So, we called customer service for a replacement yesterday. Should have it early next week.
