hello, i want to upgrade my cpu from a 3.4HT (single core)to a pentium d 3.2 or 3.4 or better but not extreme editions. i know the D runs hot and its power hungry processor but i have no other choice for my mobo. im more a gamer heres is my mobo: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products...rview.aspx?ProductID=1955&ModelName=GA-G1975X
You won't see much of an improvement (if any) by going to a Pentium D. I bet that none of the applications that you're running could take advantage of a dual core processor. If you want to upgrade something (and you don't want to get a new mobo), go for the video card.
