Any one recently Buy a 46" LCD or Higher recently (within the last 6 months)

I'm just curious what models you guys are going with and how your reviews are. I don't really trust website testimonial's, CNET is ok, but sometimes they get alittle to picky with certain things. Just wondering from some everyday people what your own opinions are.

    Ight thanks.

Any thoughts on anything about buying an LCD in the next 6 months.. models, suggestions anything would be helpful.

My uncle recently bought a 46" Samsung LCD 1080p and is quite pleased with it so far.

    ok thanks,
    Rob.

are you at all concerned that your display cannot produce 1080p?

Not in the least. Any further than 6ft away and you're not supposed to be able to tell the difference. The only thing that uses 1080p is blu-ray and HD Disc players. Nothing from cable pushes 1080p; best it does is 1080i and the 720p does that fine. Anywhere from $600-1000 more for 1080p, it was no brainer to get 720p. If in the future there is content in 1080p format then I'll consider it as I replace soon to be outdated analog TVs.

I went with the 47" Westinghouse 1080p monitor recentely... mainly got it for gaming... was affordable... looks nice... it's not the top of the line but it has a fair amount of inputs. Looks great for gaming. Upscaled movies are pretty good... HD broadcasts look great. My only complaint is you can't adjust the picture centering with the component inputs. I know you can with the VGA (which I have my 360 running through) and not sure about the dvi/hdmi but I know you couldn't with their older lcds... gonna be getting a dedicated upscale player soon anyways so I'm not forced to use my 360 for movies so maybe I'll test it then :)

Got the 46inch 1080p Sony LCD in December and I'm just loving it. I got it tweaked to where it mimics plasma colors but with a crisper pq.

Yeah... if you wanna spend the cash go for the Sony, Aquos, etc... they are higher quality. What price range are you looking at?

Oh... forgot to add :) As far as 1080p goes... if you do go for that... make sure it's a native resolution instead of scaled. Don't have any of the lag issues some sets have with that if you do :)

p.s. Sorry for not editing my last message... kinda tired and meant to click that instead...

ok so look for native resolution?

well i know for a fact i want.

46" mainly.. thats big, and way big enough for my room.

I will be getting ps3 in april, so im going to definitely be looking into getting 1080p i wanna be able to get a TV that will be able to handle future stuff.. So something like 3 Hdmi's not concerned about PC input... but 1080p and atleast 3 HDMI would be nice.

I went to bestbuy and seen the magnolia section? My cousin just bought the 46" aquos there and he loves it. I don't know how confident i feel on going with "sharp" i always been more of a fan of panasonic and sony and samsung. I know Samsung makes some excellent PC lcd's and my uncle did buy that 46" samsung they always show on TV.. so something in that area.

Price range really doesn't matter i mean it does but my limit is fairly decent. 5K area? I will get from bestbuy when they run one of those pay nothing for 24 month things, so thats why price isn't really to much of an option and most of the 46" screens i've looked at are 4500 and below. and by the time i buy hopefully this coming christmas. prices will defintely be dropped.

I've never been a big fan of Sharp until the Aquos... but if you're waiting until closer to Christmas, I wouldn't decide on any model yet. Chances are there will be bigger and better by then with at least a few more good 1080p's on the market :)

    Yea i hear that.

My cousin just told me there's a nice article in the paper in NY about BluRay vs HD-DVD.... BluRay is winning and by the end of the years the players will be 300$ stated in the newspaper. about 5-600 by summer and end of year will be 300.... that's gonna be pretty sweet.

Only reason blu-ray is winning is because of the ps3 launch. Now that ps3's have stopped selling a fair amount it should even back up. From what I've seen, HD-DVDs encoding still looks a bit better... just wish they had some of the titles that blu-ray has.... hopefully the universal players will drop in price some this year :)

Blu-Ray is going to win because the PORNO industry has chosen that format. Game over!

Only a couple companies have chosen blu-ray... (as far as porn :)) there's a lot that chose hd-dvd first because of the production price.

I'm quite pleased with my new 52" Samsung LNS5296 LCD. My 50" samsung plamsa broke in least than a month, just upgraded to the LCD. From what I can tell, the LCD has a much better picture. Its def. clearer. It still has its flaws but my PS3 looks freaking awesome on it.

2 months ago brought a audiosonic LCD, 81cm, around 1300 to 700 resolution I think. I played a dvd on it, using component cables the picture was crap, had something to do with interpolation.

Yesterday just a got a HD-CRT, with HDMI, and 100hertz, for under $800 with 5 year warranty. the picture looks way better. Its sad that CRTs are ending, since its a way better and trusted technology compared to lcd.
