I burned madden 2004 from bin/cue files... multiple times.

It installs fine, but when I try to start the game I get 'mainapp.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close'

I did some reading and found that it's safedisc 2. So I go alcohol 120. I burned it as safeDisc 2 (with and without the recitfy sub-channel data checked). I've also checked the 'Ignore Media Type' and 'Bad Sectors Emulation'..still no luck.

I've tried it in my DVD-ROM (Toshiba DVD-ROM SD-M1402) and my burner (LITE-ON LTR-40125S) but still no luck...

    any advice?

    thanks

Is the bin& cue file an internet download or a "true image"? If you have the original then [bold] read (or dump) the image using your Toshi DVD-Rom and burn RAW DAO (Alcohol 120%)[/bold]. Play the backup in your [bold] Toshi DVD-Rom, not your Litey. [/bold] If the file is an internet download chances are the file wasn't read with a reader that can read "pre-gap".
If this is the case try Daemon Tools >create 1 virtual stealth drive>mount Madden NFL 2004 (cd 1 image)>enable Safedisc emulation and see what happens. Try Blindwrite Suite as an alternative to make a backup m8.
