I have Canon GL2 mini DV cam connected to PC via firewire cable but unable to capture AVI or MPEG not only with MyDVD but also with windows moviemaker, Ulead version 6 and Virtual Dub . These programs seem to initially recognize the camera, but once I initiate the recording or capturing process, the connection gets lost . I have a firewire - USB 2.0 combo card installed and have noted that the card is OHCI
compliant according to the info sheet provided with the card. Also have tried uninstalling the 1394 host controller drivers in device manager and rebooted PC but sill no success. What could be the problem especially in light of the fact that no program seems to work?
One last thing - I am able to capture video as AVI via an external analog to dig converter box
(ADS Technologies)using ULead 6.0 program with S-Video and RCA audio cables, but won't this method compromise the video quality and defeat the whole purpose of using purely digital data as can be accomplished with firewire?
Thanx in advance
