Can someone please tell me how to shrink a .avi to fit onto an 80min CD? I have 2 .avi's and neither will fit onto a damn disk.

    Thanx :)

There are several ways of approaching this (sorted by speed of 'shrinking')
    1. Clip out the opening/closing credits using a program like VirtualDub... this will yield at most a 20MB drop in the filesize
    2. Rencode the audio using a lower bitrate. This will usually take about 2-3 minutes and provide up to 80MB or so drop in filesize (of course it depends entirely on what the original and final bitrates are). This too would be done with VDub.
    3. Reencode the video using either different codec (one that is more efficient) or a lower bitrate. This can easily take hours at a time. Again, this could be done with Vdub

You can also use workarounds too:
    1. Using larger media; there are 900MB discs available so if you have a movie in that ballpark use the larger media
    2. Split the movie into multiple CDs... this is usually a quick 2-3 minute type job and can be dont with VDub.
