Sound card related stuff was epic until I figured out how to fix most of the issues, only remaining problem now is that not all games that supported surround in XP do in Vista.

Well, if you have the surround, which I don't, a dual boot makes sense. But the onboard Realtek HD sound on the X38 is quite sufficient and I am getting pretty nice sound quality with some EQ adjustments.

Besides that, my dual core is going to stay XP permanently. So if I need to do something in XP, it's there.

Not necessarily mine specifically, but yes. I think there's far more appeal in a homebuilt dream PC than one you bought off the shelf.

I love building my own PCs. It's really fun and gratifying. Currently working on my own dream machine as we speak. Sams is overkill LOL.

Chosen due to the acoustic performance of its bigger brother the ZM1000. By far the most I've ever paid for a PSU, double what I paid for the HX520.

Yeah but with PSUs that quiet, do the small differences really matter? Last I checked, noise was never a problem with any quality PSU.

Yes and more expensive than my 620HX by a fair bit as well. I don't intend to get a new one any time soon, cable routing and all. Nor do I have any intention whatsoever to get more than 2 cards. The performance gains are there, but I don't think they justify the price of 2 4870X2s.

Ultimately, Dual graphics are a bit of a farse even at 1920x1200, It's merely the absurd pixel count of 2560x1600 that makes the difference.

Well I certainly got some impressive gains at 1920 res. But you pretty much NEED 2560 to see a difference from 4 GPUs.
