I'm using DVD Shrink to backup The Sixth Sense to my HD. I click open disc, select the DVD (I only have 1 DVD drive, so selection is simple), and it starts its little analysis preview of the disc. At about 59% analyzed, it stops and gives me a message that an error has occured and I must stop. It then says "Cyclical Redundancy Check". What gives? Is there a way around this, is it a bad DVD, or what?

I'm using the new Beta downloaded just last week. Today I experienced the same error with "The 13th Warrior", but this time it was at about 89% analyzed.

Quote:
CRC (Cyclical Redundancy Check) errors are indicative of a PHYSICAL problem with the DVD (scratches, dirt, warped, etc.) which causes DVD Shrink's inability to read from the DVD.

First try using proper products to clean the DVD. If that doesn't solve your problem:

One very often successful workaround is to use DVD Decrypter (which is far better at dealing with "problem" DVDs) to first "rip" the DVD to a folder on your hard drive. Use DVD Decrypter in "FILE" mode - and from the "Edit" dropdown menu, select "ALL files" (NOT "movie files"). If this is successful, use DVD Shrink to "Open Files" (NOT "Open Disk").
