how to add permanent subtitles with virtualdub?

i installed vobsub2.3 filter for virtualdub;
now... what i have to do now to add permanent subtitles to my divx file in order to convert it in mpg????

Did you create the divx movie yourself?
Do you have the subtitle files?

Because of the lenght of the elaboration, I made only a few minutes of conversion, but it worked very well.

I think I will run the full conversion tonight.
