Hi all, I have wasted many cds with Nero. Is there a way where I can test to see if a file (avi, mpeg, etc) is burnable before I burn it? On a separate note, I have a CDRW disk drive but it won't burn with CDRW disc. It only works with cdr. Anyone with suggestions, please reply.
1. What make/model of burner do you have? 2. You want to 'test' your movie file... 'test' for what? (VCD? SVCD? DataCD?) If you burn a VCD/SVCD, Nero will automatically perform a test for you and if it doesnt say anything, odds are that the file works (you can also just play it beforehand). For AVI files just play them... if it playes before bunrning then it should play after burning. Make sure (a) you have codecs and (b) you play SVCD/VCD/MPG files in a software DVD player - NOT Windows Media Player
Thanks for replying Praetor, I have a ATAPI cd-r/rw 32x10 and using nero 5.5.10.35. I wanna test if the avi file or data will be burnable before I actually use the cds. What codecs do you recommend?
Its not really a matter of reccommend lol... you have to get the codecs the movie needs otherwise you wont be able to play the movie! To find out, grab either either (or both) AVICodec and GSpot. They will tell you want codecs are needed and whether you have them or not. AVICodec: http://avicodec.duby.info/ GSpot: http://www.headbands.com/gspot/
Does the AVI file play ok from your hd? I use DivX 5.1 and all my avi files playback just fine. It would be a good idea to also install DivX 3&4x as well. Burn the AVI file and DivX 3x,4&5x as data burning no faster than 8x. Go to Doom9 to get the DivX tools. DivX codecs: http://www.doom9.org/ Go to the download section Shoey
