Using Pioneer 105 DVD burner and a run-of-the-mill cd-rw burner (up to 16X), Roxio-Adaptec software, and Imation, Verbatim, and TDK Media. Trying to format a drag-and-drop disk. All I get after 45 minutes of formatting?? is a full disk that can't be written to. Is it me, burners, software, media or some alien force preventing success?
Did you have a look on the website of Roxio ? I think you must download an update to use the DirectCD (drag-n-drop) with Windows XP.
WindowsXP is a quirky OS when it comes to built-in burning capability. Many people claim to be able to burn fine. Many others have problems. Microsoft released an update to the IMAPI (which, FYI stands for Image Mastering Applications Programming Interface); that update can be found at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;320174. Furthermore, Microsoft has adressed other burning issues with WindowsXP, see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;324129
WXP just dies whenever I try to format/erase a cdrw disc.. DirectCD kills XP, InCD freezes and takes whole pc with it forcing a hard boot or manually powering off.. Pretty much given up using cdrws under XP
