Disc Swap Fix
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

For anyone who is playing the PSX port to PSP of Metal Gear Solid. You may have encountered the problem of how to Insert Disc 2 after you've beaten Sniper Wolf a second time.
What you need: PSP V3.03 oe-b or higher; Metal Gear Solid Disc 1 & 2 eboots; CWCheat (see below); & Your Thinking Cap.
What to Do:
1.)First thing you need is to download this modified folder of CWCheat. and place it in the Root of your Memory Stick.
Download: Here
"OR" if you already use CWCheat then just open the cheatpops.db from your seplugins folder in Notepad and add these lines to the end of it.
_S slus_00776
_G Metal Gear Solid Disc 2
_C0 Disc Swap Fix A
_L 800B7518 0002
_C0 Disc Swap Fix B
_L 800B7520 0002
2.) Enable the CWCheat by starting the PSP in Recovery Mode (Hold the "R" Shoulder Button during startup). Navigate to Plugins and Enable "CWCheatpops.prx". Then exit and Boot as normal.
Note: Anytime you change settings in the Recovery Menu you run the chance of Bricking your PSP. BE CAREFUL!
3.)Play MGS Disc 1 until you go through the Lvl.6 door in the Snowfield. Don't go down the stairs, save your game, then quit. Put the Disc 2 EBOOT on your memory stick if you haven't already.
4.)Start Disc 2 and before you load your game hold "Select" for a few seconds to bring up the CWCheat Menu. From here go to Select Cheats and enable one of the two cheats availible (be sure to enable cheats from the main menu also).
5.)load your Disc 1 save. If it doesn't work try enabling the other cheat from the CWCheat menu. Now run back into the Comm. Tower, and back out into the Snowfield, then continue down the stairs into Disc 2. Once your in the Blast Furnace you can continue playing.
Note: Once you are past the Snowfield and into the Blast Furnace you won't need to use the CWCheat again so long as you save it. The only time you need to do this is when switching between Disc 1 and Disc 2.

Alternate Psycho Mantis Strategy.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
You cannot trade controller ports here so do this method.
When: when fighting Psycho Mantis
Effect: kills Psycho Mantis without him dodging your bullets
How: phone Campbell when Mantis isn't controlling meryl and keep on phoning him until he says he has the answer then get off the phone ,press start and do what he told you to do
This should allow you to break the 2 Statues in the top Corners (ideally by shooting them), Thus preventing Psycho Mantis from reading your mind.

Many thanks for the topic, but can you explain how swap discs for driver2?
Actually I finished disc one and then the game asks to insert disc two, however when I start disc two it asks me to insert disc one.
What should I do, please advise?

I've just put the 3.03 OE Firmware on my PSP, and am currently 'procuring' MGS.
While I'm waiting for it to arrive, I've been thinking... Is there an official line on this? I mean, for people who own a PS3 (lucky buggers), what is Sonys policy on them downloading multi-disc PSX games for use on the PSP?
Do they only allow them to download single-disc games?
If not, how do they suggest performing the swap?
Sorry for the Noobish question, but I'm a couple of years off being able to finance a PS3, so I have no idea how it 'offically' works.

To my knowledge they've only released a few official games you can purchase in the PS3 store. All the other games are just converted from actual game discs.

Where exactly is it that I save on disc 1 before I do the whole swap method?
Is it right before I go into the snowfield?
Please help me.
EDIT: Forget it, I finally did it. Thanks.

This is the problem I'm having. Once I get to enable the cheat, swap fix A didnt work but when I did swap fix B it said OK! under manage memory cards, but STILL it says No File when I try to load a disk 1 save...The last disk one save was in the room before you go down the stairs to put in disk 2. I dont know if what I did wrong? I'm I suppose to delete the disk 1 eboot before loading the disk 2 eboot?

Can Someone help me with this fix.
I have 3.40 oe-a and the two MGS eboots, Now when I configure the DB file it still does not show up under cheats for disc 2. My disc is the slus_00776 but i cant fix this problem if the cheats dont show up. I added what I was supposed to, at the very bottom of the file (when opened in notebook).
I think it wouldve worked if the Mirror for the download was still active who knows.

I think the problem is we have a diffrent game then these users I downloaded mine from gamestorrents.com so just google Metal Gear Solid for 3.02 OE-B and just use this save so u dont have to play the whole game again and download the first Disc.

i have the same game disk files you do but have you figured out how to get to disk 2 yet?

Nope I havent figured It out.
The problem for us gamestorrents downloaders or maybe just us Newer firmware users is that the game doesnt show up in cwcheat. It know its slus # but doesnt know what the game is. Only way I could think Of fixing it is recovering to 3.10 OE-B and playing it that way.
Thatll Probably be the only way for us to get passed the disc swap.

I have disk one and two of MGS converted with popstation. i got the psx from the "bubbling iso" website. the first disk doesn't go past the PS1 logo, and the second disk says to insert the first one. I've never played the original MGS on PS1 so i dont know what to expect. is the first disk conversion supposed to work freestanding?

I have just flashed to 3.52 M33-2 firmware. And I have finished playing Disc 1 of MGS, it ask for Disc 2.
I tried the method suggested here but no luck. Can someone really provide a steps on making this work for 3.52 M33-2 firmware?
