So i've been using dvd shrink as a primary decrypter and dvdfab as a backup when shrink doesn't work with new dvds. I just tried to copy the new bond with both and neither would work so i decided it was time to look for a new upgrade, decided i'd give dvd-rb a try. upon initial download i'm already getting confused with most of the terminology and all the extra stuff i had to download to get the program to work. now i no longer have bond or any new dvd to try this with just yet but i'm trying to figure out how this program works and if it will work with imgburn? will i have to get another program for burning dvds? thanks in advance for any and all help.
Welcome to AD and, if you don't mind the extra time DVD-RB takes, I feel you will be quite pleased with the results RB produces. First off, we need to establish wich version of of DVD-RB you have, the free version or the Pro version. If you are having problems with newer discs, I suggest downloading and using a program called Ripit4me. It is free and has yet to fail me. Ripit4me Download: http://www.ripit4me.org/download.html Ripit4me Guide: http://www.ripit4me.org/guide.html Basically, Ripit4me will rip the DVD files to your hard drive, and DVD-RB will re-encode them to fit onto a single layer DVD (DVD-5). It should also be noted that the files produced should be ready to burn with Imgburn. I know all of this info was a little vague, but hopefully it gets you going in the right direction. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask them, that is what we are here for Edit: Also forgot to mention, as long as you use the DVD-RB installer, there should not be anything extra that you have to download to get the program up and running, the installer will take care of everything for you, from installing avisynth, to installing free encoders, as well as helping you set up any commercial encoders you have installed on your computer. New releases from sony will need either ripit4me or anydvd. Rebuilder will work just fine with imgburn...thats what i use...check the option to create an iso image and then burn the iso with imgburn afterwards...or just burn the vob files.
ripit4me keeps telling me it needs a link to a decrypter, what is it talking about, isn't that program "the" decrypter? i'm also using the free version of dvd-rb, or atleast hope to if i can get ripit4me to work. anydvd wont work either, it says my subscription has expired...

ok so let me get this straight... 1st i have to rip the dvd to my hard drive with ripit4me 2nd i have to decode the dvd with whatever program 3rd i have to rebuild the dvd with dvd-rb 4th i have to burn the dvd with imgburn now dont get me wrong but wtf happened to just ripin it with shrink and then burning it with imgburn?? (and yea i know about shrink's law suit and all the that, but the ease that system was is what i'm refering to) the old way was much simpler... lately i've been able to rip the dvd with dvdfab and then use dvd shrink and then burn, but i find i'm not able to always make this method work with newer dvd's. Casino Royal is the only dvd that fab hasn't worked with, but i've had several not work in shrink after fab and then used dvd-rb. (well i'm in the process of trying to use rb) but that program is so F***in slow!! i personally cant tell much difference bettween the old system of burning a dvd and a brand new orginal dvd. so this system must be amazing to do take so long.
rockclmbr, The point of using Ripit4me was that it was being constantly updated to work around all the latest copy protection. This is sadly no longer the case due to legal action (we think). DVD fab is probably the best free currently supported decypting program. My solution for you would be to: 1.use DVD Fab to rip the movie to your hard drive 2.use DVD RB to re encode these files to fit on a blank 4.7GB DVD. 3.upgrade to DVD RB pro and set it up to automatically create an ISO image and burn it for you (search the help section in DVD RB using the term "burning" and then selecting the 2nd result that comes up for details on how to do this) Whilst I appreciate DVD Shrink was a great one click solution, the above set up only requires a little more work and will actually give you much much better quality results than Shrink ever could.
