I assume you're talking about making a panoramic stitch? This can be done in Gimp & Photoshop, however it's time consuming and fiddly. The easiest (and unfortunately I have to endorse Microsoft here) way is in Microsoft Digital Image Suite - there's an option for panoramic stitching, just open the 2 images & it will do it for you
Asumming you do not have any imaging software, you could use the Windows Paint application. The XP version handles, BMP of course, but also JPG and GIFs.
