I know there are a lot of threads about this and I hate it when people post questions that have been answered many times, but I don't really have time to look for it. Ok i have an Xvid file and I'm trying to encode it to mpeg. Tmpgenc accepted it but stopped in under 30 seconds. Well at least the video. the audio continued to the end. I have full audio but only like 20 seconds of video. I tried splitting the video and the audio in VirtualDub and then encode in TMPGenc but the same thing. Any idea on how to change this?

There should be an option to delete that frame with virtualdub. But it would be easier if you used virtualdubmod for this process. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_tools/virtualdubmod.cfm Load the video vdubmod and scan it for errors again. After the scan has finished you will have the option to either mask the bad frame or delete it.
After I do that now what do I do? Save it again or leave it and try to load it in TMPgenc? Tell me what i have to do after i delete the bad frame. Thanks
If masking the bad frames doesnt help then you might have to delete them. Also playback will not be as smooth. Were you able to watch the xvid file? After you delete or mask the frames your going to have re-save the movie. Remember to select Direct Stream Copy in the video menu. How did you go from 1 bad frame to 692?
Oh it was two different parts to a movie the first part had 1 bad frame the second has 692. When i try to resave the movie as a direct stream it only gets like at most 200 mb of it and then stops. Im trying Avi Fixed but its benn working since like 11:00 today and its still is working. Is it supposed to take that long?
Ive never had any luck using avi fixed. Are you having problems saving the second part? How did the first part go?

Did the original xvid file have any trouble playing? Was there any error messages that comes up while re-encoding with TMPGEnc? Were you able to re-encode the first part of the movie or is it stuck as well as the second? Have you tried masking the frames of the second part?
I'm not sure if the original file plays well or not. As soon as I saw that the whole part was there(skipping to different parts of the movie)I proceeded to encode it. There were no error messages while using TMPgenc, it just continued (the audio) while the video stayed stuck in the same spot. I was able to encode the first part successfully and burn it as a VCD. I have tried masking the files and when that did not work I tried deleting them. This still did not work.
Ok, couple more questions: Im assuming you downloaded the file; did the xvid file play perfectly after you downloaded the file? Was the movie already separated into parts or did you download one huge file and split it yourself? If you did split it yourself, can you tell me how and what program(s) you used?
The xvid file was not playing properly well it stcuk at that one point, but you could just fast foward a little bit and it would be fine. With this after its encoded fast fowarding doesn't work. I downloaded it in two seperate files.
Wow, if the original already had the bad frames and deleting/masking them didnt work then im not sure there is much more you can do. You could try using divfix to take care of the bad frames. http://www.divx-digest.com/software/divfix.html Does the movie freeze up in an important part of the movie because if it doesnt then maybe you can try deleting those scenes.

Try rebuilding the index. The process is similar to resaving the avi with virtualdubmod. If divfix doesn't work for you then try resaving with vdubmod.
