I have 2 PC's networked together, 1 of these has a dvd drive, I would like to be able to watch films on the the pc without the DVD drive from the other pc over the network.

I have tried sharing the DVD drive on the network but no playback software will recognise this.... any ideas ????

I think CSS must be network-drive-unfriendly some how. Others seem to also be having the same problem as yourself. You could try ripping the DVD to the HDD (it's a bit of a pain, huh?).

Anyway, the folks at VideoLAN have a solution for doing exactly what you want to do, and they have a Win32 client/server as well, AND it's all free:

Oh, and make sure you're using 100Mb ethernet, not 10Mb (you probably are anyway, right?).

Cheers for that, I'll give it a try.
