This is probably a stupid question but I gotta ask. I have added subtitles that were downloaded with an avi movie using virtual dub , but when I play back the finished product there are the phrases "font colour = #ffff" etc actually appearing before and after the subtitled dialogue .
Not a stupid question, since I don't see a question at all. Why does this happen? How can I encode the movie without the extra tags? Those would be questions.
You have dl a movie in what format? You have dl subtitles in what format? Are you trying to burn subtitles to picture using virtualdubMOD? (Do it only if your standalone dvd-player will not support subtitle files) What filter did you use? ("TextSub"?) Make sure subtitles are in .srt format. (Use Subtitle Workshop to convert if need to) Did you change word-wrapping style? Or other text style?
Hi, I'm having this same problem, admittedly this is my first attempt at adding subtitles to a file. My video file is in .avi format My subtitle file is in .srt format I read on another post on site about using DVDSanta. So, I used DVDSanta to encode the files to DVD format. When I checked the dvd files the subtitles are there but the html font codes are also present. How can I either remove those or redo this correctly? Have read about some complicated methods for adding them, this way seemed so simple even I couldn't mess it up..lol Thanks
The problem is that I don't think that the original srt specs allow for HTML tags. Either that or there was no specs. Anyway the fact is that most apps don't agree so it is best to avoid such tags since chances are that they will either be ignored or worst case show up as actual text per above. So, don't use such tags in srt subs. If you want the extra formatting, then use a more advanced format like ssa.
