I am running Nero 7 Ultra Edition on Vista. I am not sure whether it has something to do with my hardware ( because my laptop is new) i am having unspecified burning errors every single time that I try to burn a dvd. Out of 10 dvds - 7 don't work and it's getting seriously frustrating. I tried burning at 4x and also deleting ROXIO, but to no avail. Help would be seriously appreciated.
This is the last log I have saved:

1st when you uninstalled roxio did you use the roxio zapper?

Try changing your dma back to on, and then retry burning. You may find a different out come this time around

You really need to look at the applications you have running in the background.Turn off anything you actually dont need, like virus protection, the net as encoding and burning does take a lot of your pc's system resources

you are within the limits of the burn, you wouldnt want to burn past 4300 if possible. The dye is more uneven past 4300 ,more errors creep in there

what error message do you get as in your log you have a couple

    Thanks for the reply:
Yes I used zapper because I read in another forum where people had the similar problem.
When I went to the Device manager - it said that my DMA was on - so it is weird to see now that it is turned off - i checked again and still it says it's on - don't have any new dvds now so can't run another log.
It normally says: Unspecified burning error - it never says things such as illegal disc or whatnot - just something that is unspecified?!
I'll try again with less info on da disc - just thought that normally drives say eg 250gb but that equates to about 232gb - so i thought burning closer to 4.4 (although it says 4.7gb) wouldn't be of significance. Appreciate the help - will inform of you of any new developments. Cheers

Roxio shouldn't be a problem, as Nero isn't recognising any Roxio drivers.

For DMA, follow this guide and try "turning it back on" anyway..
    http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm/231/dmaissues

You say you have no discs left. Here is a tip... Buy some decent media such as Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden. Your Sony discs are alright, but not the best. Bear in mind, even though you have no discs left, you can always do a simulation burn for us to have a look t the log of once you have followed our advice.

Discs are advertised as 4.7GB but infact they only hold 4.38GB of data. You can read about that in the glossary here on aD under dvd+r or dvd-r.

Some more things I will add..

Your memory usage is high (72%). Make sure you do not multitask and have nothing else running whilst burning.

Also, you're burnign an ISO? If so, try using IMGBurn to burn your ISO - it's free and does a great job!

    Get back to us :)

I had a look and there were no updates that I could find at any of my regular firmware sites.
