Hi there. I am fairly new to both this board, and home theater. I have a question about subs, and the LFE connection. I searched this forum and found nothing that helped so I am hoping that someone can shed some light here. I have a JBL 8' powered sub, and a Pioneer VSX-917V-K 7.1 channel receiver, with a dedicated RCA sub output (obviously). My JBL sub has a left and right RCA input, but it also has a single LFE input. The manual for the subs says absolutely nothing about this LFE input, so my question is, is there a difference between hooking up the sub using a spliter and connectiing the two RCA to the sub output on my receiver, or hooking it up with a single RCA to the LFE input? Also, my Pioneer on screen menu has a setting for LFE adjustment, Off--10db-0db, 0 being default. I haven't touched this setting yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hook the sub up by way of the LFE output on your receiver that is the proper way if you did not have a LFE output you could use other inputs

If you can get your hands on a May 2000 issue of Sound and Vision Magazine (perhaps your local library), there is an excellent 3 page article...Subwoofer Setup Made EZ by Tom Nousaine

Contents: from unpacking to hookup to fine tuning. Highly recommended!
