Hi there, I hope someone can help. I have been using Nero Suite 6 and have been burning DVD's for some time now very successfully. I recently purchased a new DVD player which plays DivX, Xvid and MPEG-4 (AVI) aswell as normal DVD, VCD and SVCD. It reads all formats of media aswell DVD+/-R and RW's. Same for CD's. MY PROBLEM:- I have numerous files in AVI format. I want to burn them to CD or DVD as they are without having to recode them to DVD format first. I use Nero Burning Rom 6.6.1.4 to burn the AVI to disc. The disc/file plays fine on my pc, but will not play through my new AVI ready DVD player. At first I though it was a problem with the codecs on the new player, but it does support the codecs the AVI files are made with. Now this is the odd bit - I borrowed some AVI format files on DVD from friends and they play fine on my new DVD player. I copied the files that work onto my hard drive, then burned them using Nero onto DVD discs (as always at half max speed). They play back fine on my pc again but again, my new DVD player does not even see there is a file to load on the disc. I cannot understand how the same files will play straight from my friends discs, but when I burn the same file they will not play. There must be something happening to the files when i burn them through Nero 6? Hi there. gwendoline, I did everything you suggested without a problem, but after burning AVI's and trying them in the DVD player they still do not get recognised as being on the disc even though my pc plays them fine. Any more ideas? complete noob here , but have you the avis in a folder ? to my surprise my xbox demands that there be at least one avi in the main directory to play dvds, try different media like verbatim
This could be a compabability problem...some players will accept the +R format, some the -R format and some will accept both also some players are "picky" as to the brand of disc they will play...as your's accepts BOTH formats all I can suggest is to try a different brand of disc.
