ok i am new to dvd ripping obviously, so here it goes i have flask mpg and avi2mpg1 and also dvd ripper but all that i have tryed cant read a dvd all i want to do is make a backup cd of my dvd that can be played in my dvd player whats wrong. i have a cd rom and cdrw drive is there anyway to get around the dvd drive thing?

No, you need the DVD-ROM, end of period. CD and DVD don't have anything to do with each other, it's like trying to play audio CDs with your VCR.
