    Greetings everyone,

I have just purhcased a Philips PCRW5224, which promises speeds of 52x24x52. However, whenever I try to burn a CD with various versions of Nero, I cannot get higher than 24x in the burning speed list.

I believe I have the correct Master / Slave IDE configuration and I am using Win 98 SE.

I'd be grateful if anyone could help me with my problem.

    Thanks in advance...

Funnily enough, I discovered the solution purely by luck, minutes after I posted the problem.

Apparently, the driver installation application cannot determine the maximum speed of the CD burner, if the application is installed by another CD/DVD-ROM drive.

    Silly, if you ask me...

I fixed the problem by installing the drivers using the CD Rewriter Drive...

    *sighs*

    1. Burn speed, at least with Nero depend on the burn speed capability of the media.

    2. Since you just bought the burner... consider returning it... Phillips is poo IMO... grab yourself a Litey or an ASUS... much more worth your money and time.

Yeah, after some more goofing around, I came to realise that was the case and not what I said before...

    Thanks for the assistance... *smiles*
