Hey, I recently inserted a Cd into my Cd-Rw, LG - 24x10x40, and the light started to flash, I haven't noticed this before but I took a closer look because the Cd would pop out after around 15 seconds.

I have no idea what the problem is, as I burnt a cd not long ago, just this week.

I really hope someone has a solution to this, or can provaide some helpful info, thanks in advance

ay you You may want to look into ASPI. For more information regarding ASPI see http://cd-rw.org/articles/archive/aspisetup.cfm

Furthermore, check to see if you can burn and forward CDRWs... if you start getting power calibration errors, watch out. If you get fixation errors you can sometimes work around them by burning slower.

The Major problem is that I can't burn anything, like I said, it pops out after around 15 seconds, so I can't keep it in there long enough to burn anything! :(

Okay try this... start your machine up... go into bios and sit there. Now pop the CD drive, insert a disc and close the tray. Does it still eject? If so, you have yourself a hardware issue... perhsps a flash may save it. For various firmwares pay a visit to http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php

Very important note: do not make any changes to the BIOS settings unless you know what your are doing. In the even that you do make a change, dont panic. In either case, when it comes time to "leave" the bios, just remember not to save anything.

Hehe no need to bump after only 1 day lol...
    1. Check that there is nothing jammed in the cd tray or something
    2. If nothing is jammed try flashing the CD drive
    3. If that dont work... im afraid ur drive be how do we say.... el'toasto.

Ok, it's pretty hard to check the cd-tray, i mean its not that big, how can i check properly? Open up the tower?

Oh, and, flash the Cd drive?

    Thanks again, much apprecieated.

Sorry about the Bump, lol. Im just anxious to get it working since i rely it on it quite a lot.

    1. Dont worry about the bump hehe i was just kiddin
    2. To check the cd drive, you will most definitly have to remove it out of the chassis that is unless you can in there with a flashlight or something
    3. If there is something stuck in there you will probably have to actually dismantle the cd drive to check/fix it anyways... i'm not sure if you are comfortable doing that. Ive done it a few times and if you are carefule nothing should go wrong
    4. Firmware is like a mini BIOS just for your CD drive. I dont think it will fix this problem since i suspect it is a hardware problem but it might be worth checking out. For various firmwares pay a visit to http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php or your manufacturer's website.

    Ryder,
If you just put in a new CD burner you should have a warrantee, if not and if a flash doesn’t work and in a worst case scenario,
Still - not to worry too much “little Buddy”, for what it would cost you to take Mr. Computer to the Dr.'s (a computer repair center) you could go online to ebay and buy yourself a very good DVD/CD - RW (refurbished under $100.00 with a warrantee). Now THAT you will use a whole lot –
    Hope for the best –

Hehe... you should be able to find yourself an excellent burner for under $100 dude! (Canadian dollars even hehe). Might i reccommend the ASUS 522452A or a Litey? :)

I just chatted to a m8 about the problem, he told me to have a go at Uninstall - Restart - Then it will auto-install.

I thought after the replys here it wasnt gonna work, but sure enough, I came back, it didn't pop out, and i just burnt my first disk!!

Thanks a bunch guys, Im sure what u suggested would have worked, but anything to get it working again.

Honestly, much appricieated. Great to kno there is somewhere I can come. :)
