Ummm... Evildude, the "updating code list" screen shouldn't be up. When you load up the gs2 on the screen that has "code list", "memory card manager" and so on, you should just press start and select with codes, (i'll check if it will work with "without codes") then you do the swipe card trick.

GLyon, i only have toast 5 on my mac so i've haven't burned any dvds yet ( i have a burner)
but it works perfectly copying cd based games. Good luck, and what other dvd burning programs are there? ( for mac)

Either you did not read the rules or do not care for them but it doesn't matter you broke it anyway. This is your ONLY warning. If something like this happens again you will be banned. Read the rules.

Hi.

Thanks to your tutorial, I am now able to play my PSone import games on my PS2 with the swap-card method and the Gameshark V2.0 (for PSX games, it came with my PS2 GS 2.0).

But I can't make my FFX japanese PS2 game work. It is the original DVD (not a backup). Everyone seems to suggest me to use Devil May Cry since that game has the highest TOC. I followed your instructions step by step, and everything went smoothly until I had to wait for my Devil May Cry PS2 DVD to stop spinning. Even though the message 'updating code list' is displayed, everytime I try to retrieve Devil May Cry from the tray with the swap card, it is still spinning. Even though it was spinning, I swapped it with FFX, but then I am brought back to the PS2 browser and the message 'please insert a Playstation 2 game disc' is displayed (with the red background).
Does my Devil May Cry disc stop spinning during the the display of 'updating code list' or after that message, when the screen turns black?

I have the same problem with my CD (not DVD) backup of Clock Tower 3, except that my PS2 freezes after I swap Devil May Cry with Clock Tower 3 (at the 'updating code list' message).

Please help me.

I could only suggest investing in Swap Magic Discs, then you should be 5 by 5.

i wouldn't bother getting swap magic, on GS, when you select with/without codes, try it with a legit PAL or us game, watch carefully the loading process...if it loads up with the bit that says
"playstation 2" then it won't work, if it doesn't on with or without then try without and there won't be a "updating code list" screen and the game SHOULD boot fine...

How many people have walked past you? How many people have walked past them? Have they been walked past as well?

Hhmm. I hope the "ASS!!!!" part of your reply was in referance about your actions, because it seems a little odd; the way it was written.

See this is a perfect example of me being a bit too lenient and it coming back to bother me. Oh well, we'll see who gets the last laugh...

i belive we won't being hearing from him again. It was a cowardly way to try to be cool.He proboly assumes he's banned. You can take comfort in the fact that he feared the power he mocked. So he took a stab on the way out instead bringing up issues before everybody helped him.

Hi, I was wondering if you had instructions for burning PS1\PS2 cd based games and PS2 DVD based game using Record Now DX (I have a DVD writer and reader). Also which DVD-r media do you suggest to use? Thanks.

From my tutorial :

Using Prassi (RecordNow Max is very similar, so this should be sufficient)

1. Start Primo
2. Select "go to full application"
3. Right Click the drive that has your original in it
4. Select "build global image" and choose a path for the image (preferably on an NTFS opsys)
5. After the image is extracted go to next step
6. Choose the 3rd disc icon from the left *or* click file, new job, Global/Other Image
7. Then just burn the .gi (global image) of the game

This next way has one less step which saves some time because once you press record it does everything by itself (if you have a DVD reader and DVD Writer)

1. Start Primo
2. Use the "PrimoDVD Starter" (it's easier, and less confusing)
3. Choose "disc copy"
4. Select your Reader and Also your Writer
5. Select "make a temp image on HD..."
6. Select your burn speed and then record to begin

This should be enough.

Hi. I was wanting to try the slide card thing so I just bought a new gameshark to do it with. They weren't selling version 2.0 at Walmart, they were all the newest version 3.1. I really hope I didn't just waste my money because that thing cost 40 bucks. Anyhow, is there any way to do it with version 3.1 that any of you guys know, because 3.1 doesn't follow the directions in the tutorial.

Thanks,
Jared

you wasted your money v2.0 is the only ver that works because newr versions eject disk automatically try to get refund if not possible trade at local gamestop or eb store for earlier version

no all caps
any type of dvd + or -r burner should do just don't buy dvdram. Record now is excellent copying software and comes with many dvd burners in usa
no-solder chips are good(i have one myself)for best results get swap magic disk as well

dici
here 's instructions on how to boot dvd's with neo key, ironic that it's on the same page that you ask the question.... or is it

PS2 with Neo 2.2 modchip & AR/GS, PS2 DVD backup booting

1. Have AR/GS dongle in a memory card slot
2. Power on your PS2
3. Insert AR/GS disc, close tray
4. Power off your PS2, wait a few seconds
5. Press and Hold Reset button to load AR/GS
6. At the AR2/GS2 menu, press EJECT while still holding Reset
7. Swap AR/GS disc for an Original-TOC-DVD* and wait 10 seconds
8. Select "AR/GS Codes"
9. Highlight "Add new code" and press X to get to the next screen
10. Press X three times. You will see "Updating code list please wait" each time)
11. Press "Start" on controller
12. Select "Without codes", press X
13. Then Press X again, and immediately release the Reset button, you will see "Updating code list please wait"
14. The PS2 tray will eject allowing you to swap Original-TOC-DVD* for DVD backup and then close on it’s own
15. Screen will change and game will now boot

* Note - "Original-TOC-DVD" is an original DVD that is a larger file size than the backup

* Note – For a shortcut make a few “Add new codes”, or use any title you know you don’t need (you can always reset the dongle) and after step 8 just highlight one of the “newly” added codes or unnecessary ones and press square to delete it, then proceed on with step 11

*Important* You have to have the correct version of AR/GS in order to boot backups
?
