    hi,
i have my box a few months now in my bedroom and have nothing but trouble with it. the cable goin in2 my room is not very strong and sometimes i get most of the channels but more recently have been getting less and less and 2day after checking it i had none at all!
i bought a booster and it seemed 2 help 4 a while but now again i'm stationless. would a weak cable do this as i can not really think of anything else. i'm in the attic room at home so the cable has to travel to 3 other rooms before mine.
i would be more than willing 2 pay some1 to come in and rewire the whole house because my unlcle previously did it and needless 2 say did a bit of a cowboy job!. does any1 here know of anybody in the tallaght area who would be able to do such a jobr be able to help me in anyway!

Why not do it yourself and it will save you a few quid its quite easy to do. Here are some of the things you need.

    CT100 Cable

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Modu...=ct100&doy=28m9

    Twist On F Type Connectors

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Modu...ECTORS&doy=28m9

    RF Splitter

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Modu...litter&doy=16m1

These are for reference only you may look in the likes of B&Q or Homebase as well. I am in this game so if you need any help just shout only had to do it recently myself because of similar problems.

Hi to everyone who reads this.
I am looking to get another starview, the one I have works great and I have just updated it, no problems, but I really dont't know where to go and who to trust now with the new one I am looking for, any ideas, plus the one I have came already flashed but now everywhere I look for a nex box it is saying that I need to unscramble it myself, could someone please clarify what they mean and am I able to do this myself or is it best to stick to the boxes already flashed
Any info would be greatle appreciated
    Thanks
    Patricia

Press menu and system info and post what it says as you may need to upgrade it to access the CAS screen.

As Karl said as you will not be able to access "all" channels unless you do.

You will need a null modem cable DB9F to DB9F.

    Null modem info here

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=L71BT&DOY=2m6

If your pc does not have a serial port you will need a USB to serial port adapter to use in conjunction with the null modem cable.

    USB Adapter info here

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Modu...erial Adaptor

These two cable links are only for reference as they can be purchased alot cheaper on fleabay.

All firmware/loader can be found in the link at the end of my post marked Eamos FTA Library.

You will need the GTromloader, (Starview Software Uploader), found in the Starview software folder of the link.

You will need version 4.50 for Ireland or 4.51 for the UK firmware found in "The Box" firmware folder. There are later versions but these are fine.

And please download the Starview PDF guide,(similar instructions as to "The Box" guide), this will give you step by step instructions on how to do everything. This can be found in the Starview Documentation folder in the link.

while a couple of you experts are on line I am looking at getting lcd or plasma tv, is the starview cable picture classed as better than Standard definition picture. Have been told that waste of time getting one unless getting a sky HD box as SD picture looks same on any tv?( hence my question is cable better and worth gettingLCD)Or is there a cable box like skyhd as prefer to keep cable due to starview.
