these are the things i've done so far according to your instructions =)



Download and rename TrendMicro HijackThis.exe (HJT)

• Double-click on HJTInstall.
• Click on the Install button.
• It will automatically place HJT in C:\Program Files\TrendMicro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe.
• Upon install, HijackThis should open for you.
• Close HijackThis and rename it.
• Go to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.exe
• Right click on HijackThis.exe and select Rename.
• Type in scanner.exe and press Enter.
• Right-click on scanner.exe and select Send To > Desktop (create shortcut)
• From the desktop open Hijackthis. (aka scanner)
• If using Windows Vista, Right-click and Run As Administrator.
• Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button
• Hijackthis will scan and then a log will open in notepad.
• Copy and then paste the entire contents of the log in your post.
• Do not have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Although we have renamed Hijackthis to scanner.exe, we will still refer to it as Hijackthis or HJT.



Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune & save it to your desktop. DO NOT use yet.

Please download and install SUPERAntiSpyware Free

• Double-click SUPERAntiSypware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
• An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
• If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and unzip into the program's folder.)
• Under the "Configuration and Preferences", click the Preferences... button.
• Click the "General and Startup" tab, and under Start-up Options, make sure "Start SUPERAntiSpyware when Windows starts" box is unchecked.
• Click the "Scanning Control" tab, and under Scanner Options, make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked):
o Close browsers before scanning.
o Scan for tracking cookies.
o Terminate memory threats before quarantining.
• Click the "Close" button to leave the control center screen and exit the program.
• Do not run a scan just yet.


Reboot your computer in "Safe Mode" using the F8 method. To do this, restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup (but before the Windows icon appears) press the F8 key repeatedly. A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.

• Under Main "Select Files to Delete" choose: Select All.
• Click the Empty Selected button.
• If you use Firefox browser click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
• Click the Empty Selected button.
If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
• If you use Opera browser click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
• Click the Empty Selected button.
If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
• Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
Note: On Vista, "Windows Temp" is disabled. To empty "Windows Temp" ATF-Cleaner must be "Run as an Administrator".


Scan with SUPERAntiSpyware as follows:

• Launch the program and back on the main screen, under "Scan for Harmful Software" click Scan your computer.
• On the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive.
• On the right, under "Complete Scan", choose Perform Complete Scan and click "Next".
• After the scan is complete, a Scan Summary box will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Click "OK".
• Make sure everything has a checkmark next to it and click "Next".
• A notification will appear that "Quarantine and Removal is Complete". Click "OK" and then click the "Finish" button to return to the main menu.
• If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes" and reboot normally.
• To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.
o Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.
o Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
o If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log. A text file will open in your default text editor.
o Please copy and paste the Scan Log results in your next reply.
• Click Close to exit the program.

Reboot to Normal Mode


Make a HijackThis Log

• From the desktop open Hijackthis.
• If using Windows Vista, Right-click and Run As Administrator.

Make an uninstall list using HijackThis
To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:

1. Start HijackThis
2. Click on the Config button
3. Click on the Misc Tools button
4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.
5. Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad here in your next reply.



Please post the HijackThis log, SUPERAntiSpyware Log and Uninstall list in your next reply.



and no, i have not deleted anything prior to doing this stuff

 

I tried doing it in my profile, and it said i might not have the rights...but i'm listed as an admin to xp's User Account settings. Go figure.

So... i had an idea, i booted safe mode and entered the real/main admin account and did it there, no problems at all.

However when i rebooted into reg mode and went into my profile, the clock is still military...(there is a few other clocks in the room, so if it can't be done, no big deal.) Just preferance and conveniance.

It did near clear out the combofix folder, it only left "CF26285.exe" inside.

 

To set your clock…

Go To > Start > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options

On the Regional Options Tab click on the Customize.. button

Click the Time Tab

In the Time format dropdown box select a Time format with a lowercase h for 12 hr time
Or a format with a capital H for 24 hr time.

Click the Do a system scan only button
Put a check next to the entries listed below (if they still remain)

Delete Files on Reboot

Start Hijackthis
Click on the Config button
Click on the Misc Tools button
Click on the button labeled Delete a file on reboot...
A new window will open asking you to select the file that you would like to delete on reboot.
Navigate to each file (in red) and click on it once, and then click on the Open button.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\kdltt.exe

You will now be asked if you would like to reboot your computer to delete the file.
Click on the Yes button.


after the reboot,


Right click on the desktop
Go to > Properties > Desktop tab > Customize Desktop > Web tab
Select everything you find in there (except for "My current home page") and press the delete button on the right.
Hit ok below > apply in previous window.

Post a fresh HijackThis Log and tell me how your machine is acting…………….

ok after i clicked fix, i went to config, misc tools, and uninstall, C:/WINDOWS/system32....
but i couldnt find kdltt.exe
the closest things i found to it are kd1394.dll and kdcom.dll
(no i haven't deleted them)
i have, however fixed and checked those kdltt and that other thing

ima post a HJT for you anyways.

(and my comp is laggy right now..) =/

I was afraid of that because everything I could find on it was in Asian and I couldn’t read it. : (

Hello again, 2oG. I hate to interrupt, but I've got a quick question that might be related to my previous problem - suddenly I'm no longer permitted access, by my own PC no less, to my Spybot and SUPERAntiSpyware programs. An error meassage appears saying:

"Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

Do you know why this might be? I tried uninstalling both, then reinstalling SUPERAntiSpyware, but when I attempt to run the .exe to reinstall, I get this same message. Any ideas?

Do you have an XP system disk or a Recovery disk that came with the computer that we can get some files from???? Let me know.

We will have to repair some system files that your virus friend has destroyed.

Maybe we won’t need it… If we’re lucky…

Go to -> Start > Run and enter SFC /scannow in the box and click OK

It will scan your computer for bad or corrupt system files. It will take a long time.

If it finds a bad file it may ask you to insert a operating system CD. If we are lucky it will look on your HD and hopefully find it in a CAB file.

Give it a try and if it don’t work, we can go to plan B.
