well i used the search feature on the forums and couldnt find anything relating to my problem.
i have a samsung 224b 24x10x40 burner and all of a sudden my burner wont read certain cds, its wierd, it only reads some burned cds not all, it doesnt read anything else like audio cds or real cds like a windows 98 or anything official like that. i been tryin to solve this problem n tried alot of stuff like flashin the newest firmware and makin it the master 2nd eide and drivers reinstalling. also when i tried to burn a cd using easy cd creator it doesnt turn the red light any more it jus stays green. it also burns at 8x instead of 24x and i used to burn at 24x on these same brand of cdr's. if any1 has any ideas please share it with me. thx

    1. Check your ASPI... you might find a problem with that.

    2. WindowsXP is a quirky OS when it comes to built-in burning capability. Many people claim to be able to burn fine. Many others have problems. Microsoft released an update to the IMAPI (which, FYI stands for Image Mastering Applications Programming Interface); that update can be found at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;320174. Furthermore, Microsoft has adressed other burning issues with WindowsXP, see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;324129

    3. Have you entertained the possibilitiy that the burner is el-toasto?
