Unless you have a DivX/Xvid capable DVD player, what you are talking about is called a VCD or SVCD (videocd, super videocd). To get your AVI file into a format playable on a DVD player you need to encode the movies into a compatible format. Once they are encoded you will have several MPEG files. The reason you have several MPEG files as opposed to a single AVI file is that MPEG files are less efficient at storing the information (i.e., you can shove 2 hours of high quality movie onto a single 700MB cd.... a 2 hour movie in SVCD format will prolly use up 3 CDs). This is the price for compatibilitiy of course hehe. ===== For more info on encoding to (S)VCD with TMPGEnc: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/43085 For information on burning VCDs with Nero: http://www.afterdawn.com/articles/archive/nero_videocd_guide.cfm For information on burning VCDs with VCDGear and BurnAtOnce: http://cd-rw.org/articles/archive/vcdgearburnatonce.cfm ===== Both LiteOn and KISS Technologies produce standalone DVD players capable of playing DivX/XviD movies. KISS makes the KiSS DP-500 DVD (http://www.kiss-technology.com/templates/side.asp?level=1&pid=411) and LiteON has the LITEON LVD-2002 (http://www.liteonit.com/DC/english/lvd_2002_2.htm) and the LITEON LVD-2001 (http://www.liteonit.com/DC/english/lvd_2001_2.htm).
