I am not patient enough to convert all my hi8 tapes to vhs through my vcr recorder. Is there a vhs cassette into which I can place the hi 8 tape and then insert both into vcr and watch? (Australia)

Nope, the hi8 tape is a different size, different recording format, different tape speed, everything is different from VHS. Maybe you're thinking of those old mini VHS cassettes for camcorders that could be fitted inside an adapter for playing on the home VCR. They worked because the tape was the same width and the recording was the same format. Sorry.

There are firms that will put your Hi8 films in DVD for a fee.
