LG Flatron wide L196w HDCP question...

ok so hdcp compliance means i can watch high def dvds on this monitor, if i have a hdcp drive and hdcp video card (am I missing anything? Hdcp op system an mother board required too?).... but what the hell is the point its only 1440 by 900... i thought you didnt need it to be hdcp compliant to do just 720?

and whats dvi-d? 2nd long pin? i fail to see how this is going to make my screen look any better than just with normal dvi...
