Help me play movie DVDs.

My Toshiba SD-M1402 won't play all movie DVDs. Like for example I cannot play the "Mission Impossible" DVD but can play "Rambo". This is a persistant case. I have tried it with both latest versions of WINDVD and PowerDVD. Actually the DVD drive doesn't recognise the disk. There is no firmware upgrade at the Toshiba DVD site. Any ideas?
