Holographic Versatile Disc (HVD)

    Anyone heard of this, its gonna have storage of up to 2000 GB, and soon going to replace HD-DVD, and Blu-ray. Does that mean it could have resolution superior to HD, and make Blu-ray and HD-DVD obsolete.

    It main featue is a lot more storage. It uses 720p as it's native format. I haven't seen where it has any better picture quality.
    With all the 1080p hype, I doubt this 720p player will make it.

    Really are these players available now.
    I also heard that pioneer is making a dvd which uses a ultraviolet laser.

    We obviously need to clear up some confusion here. HVD can refer to two very different forms of media.

    The HVD Adamontar is referring to is the Holographic Versatile Disc:

    Looks like it's too late to make it in the US.
