I'm hoping someone can help me. I just installed a new Maxtor SATA II to my Vista machine. Everything seems to work okay yet I cannot see where the computer has assigned a drive letter to it. It shows up in the control panel as installed and working properly. Any advice on how I can get the compter to recognize it and assign a drive letter? Many thanks!
Format the HDD in DOS? haven't installed a hdd in a long time but i think formatting a new hdd i what you're meant to do (went to colege for aq year to studu pc engineering forgot most of it lol )
Thanks Neubauer2....I went to Start/Settings/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Computer Management/Disk Management and this allowed me to assign a drive letter and format it. Problem solved! I love these forums.
