First off, if you are looking for a "brand" name, Polaroid is not Polaroid. This is common where a company will buy a name brand and use it (under license) to brand their product.

I did buy/use this burner and had problems with it and returned it. I can't remember the specific issue, however, I think it had problems recognizing a blank disc.

YEAH, , , I bought This Polaroid DVD+-RW , , I too noticed that it doesent recognize blank media
After installing the dvd burner , my "HI-Lite on 48-125W cd/rw did not notice blank cd'z either ,
I did a firmware upgrade on the hi-liteon & I think it worked , I am wondering if you could let me know about how to get this Polaroid to notice the blank media , THANKZ...
